Fleet Week Sneak Peek

More than 200 LAUSD students enjoyed a sneak peek of LA Fleet Week on August 30 and 31st through a collaboration of the Port of Los Angeles and the Beyond the Bell Branch Office of Outdoor and Environmental Education.    For the second year in a row, active duty ships docked in the harbor adjacent to the Battleship Iowa.  Sailors showcased and walked students and teachers through the USS Anchorage (LPD 23).  Fire crews demonstrated equipment and allowed students to try on gear.  Jo......

Migrant Education Program

Beyond the Bell All District Jazz Academy – 7 Years Old

The Beyond the Bell All District Jazz program celebrated its seventh year of existence performing in the Los Angeles 22nd Annual Central Avenue Jazz Festival.  The All-City District Jazz Big Band has had the honor of opening the festival since 2010 thanks to the Festival artistic directors Jose Rizo and Michael Dolphin.The jazz band is comprised of LAUSD High Schools students that rehearse two Saturdays per month, as well as during the summer time, to keep up their “chops.”  The band performed s......

High School 2017 Summer Term

The High School 2017 Summer Term was a great success this year!  Almost 32,000 students attended summer term 2017 which was held for 24 days at 72 comprehensive high schools throughout the district.  Students had the opportunity to enroll in up to two courses for ten credits.  All schools provided English, math, science and history/social science courses as well as two sections of non-core/enrichment courses.  A total of 1,674 sections were offered which included 94 unique courses. The staff hir......

Summer Fun Learning !
