Palms Elementary School students are enjoying their Extended Learning Opportunity Summer program. Diego and Alberto’s class is looking forward to exploring the South Coast Botanic Garden on their upcoming field trip. The second graders will search the garden for a healthy home environment for Torpid the hummingbird with the help of Beyond the Bell Outdoor Education counselors. Back in the classroom, the students planted seeds that are growing and soaking up the summer sunshine by a window.
Areli’s class enjoyed a trip to the Skirball Cultural Center where children learned about friendship among some very fanciful animals. She enjoyed the music and has fun reading everyday in her first grade class.
|Beyond the Bell is supporting 62 elementary and middles schools hosting the Extended Learning Opportunity Summer (ELOS) program this year. Students receive academic instruction and enrichment for four weeks. Reader’s Theater and a field trip are just two of the many great reasons the boys and girls of Palms ES come to ELOS.
