Community is this year’s goal for the YS PLUS Beyond the Bell Program. Early this summer, team members were challenged to identify personal and professional community goals. As a result, the Professional Development focus is to empower our staff who will, in turn, empower their students.
Staff created personal profiles that are set to be on display at each of their school sites. Students will get a glimpse into the adults’ personal interests, expertise, successes, community involvement, and pathways to higher learning.
The first MTAC (Middle School Take Action Campaign) professional development, held at UCLA in August, required staff to overcome vigorous physical and mental challenges by working cohesively in high-ropes obstacle courses. Staff recognized that self-reflection and the development of individual talents and skills will contribute greatly to the success of their programs. Staff examined traits of influential leaders and determined a course of action to empower their students. Our staff looks forward to continuous learning opportunities throughout the year!
