2018 Bridge Program
Posted 8/28/18

In 2018, BTB created a new voluntary Title I funded High School Summer Bridge Program for incoming students who have demonstrated difficulty with academics, attendance and/or behavior in middle school.  BTB provided training, instructional materials and academic counselors who supported Bridge teachers and incoming freshmen at 56 sites.  Approximately 2,065 students participated in the 2018 BTB Summer Bridge Program which took place from June 25, 2018 to July 13, 2018.

The daily schedule consisted of two hours of English Language Arts and one hour of High School and College Readiness.  Bridge students were enrolled in the LIFE SKILLS 21ST course and upon successful completion of the Bridge Program were able to earn five elective credits.  When asked what they thought about the Bridge Program, typical student responses included: “I feel more prepared for high school. I made new friends and I’m not as nervous to start high school as I was at first.”
