Students running a marathon

2019 26th Mile

Join us, this Sunday, as students run the 26th mile for the LA Marathon at Dodgers Stadium. Students have been running at their schools regularly for the past several weeks to reach a total of 25 miles. This Sunday, students will run the "final" 26th mile length of a marathon at Dodger Stadium. Friends and parents are welcomed but only invited students may participate in the run.

Our 26th Mile Celebration event kicks off LA Marathon Week in Los Angeles each year. The 34th Sketchers Performance LA Marathon will include over 24,000 athletes from all 50 states and more than 63 countries and will also start at Dodger Stadium the following Sunday, March 24th.   

 

Special Invited Guests: 

  • Alvaro Cortes, Senior Executive Director, Beyond the Bell Branch

 

  • Murphy Reinschreiber, Chief Operating Officer, Conqur Endurance Group. 

Conqur is our decade long partner helping us conduct this event. They coordinate the annual running of the actual LA Marathon each year.

  • A.C. Green, 3 -time NBA Champion with our Los Angeles Lakers. NBAs “Iron Man,” having played in 1,192 straight games. A.C. is the only player in Laker history to win championships in both the “Fabulous” Forum and Staples Center.

AC Green Youth Foundations' goal is to help young people build self-esteem, character, learn moral and ethical principles which will help them make responsible decisions. The A.C. Green Youth Foundation is about building character, building strong bodies and strong minds, winning and losing with dignity, teamwork, and sacrifice.

 

AC has supported our Final Mile and our students each year and is our official race starter. 

  • Dion Jackson with All Seasons Fitness Media, Mega-Celebrity Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, Fitness Philanthropist, and Group Instructor. He will be joined by his team member, Troy TITUS-Adams.Dion has supported our program every year and again will lead our students in a very energetic warm up activity on stage. Parents and spectators please feel free to join in. 
  • Maree Reed, Elementary School Unit Coach, National Anthem Signer.
