2019 Tennis in Review
Posted 12/6/19

In partnership with the USTA of Southern California and the LA84 Foundation, the Beyond the Bell Middle School Unit offered the sport of Tennis to over 15 schools throughout LAUSD.  From the start of the 19-20 school year in August through November, BTB students and coaches activated their commitment to support the growth of youth tennis by providing students with a platform to learn, develop and refine their skills under the guidance of trained coaches. Each of our schools offered the sport 2-3 times per week and had the opportunity to compete within their local region for two rounds of interscholastic play.  On Saturday November 16th, the season culminated with the LA City Middle School Championships at the Cal State Northridge Tennis Facility. This year marked the first time in program history the championships were held at a College Campus in an effort to expand our students horizons by visiting a college campus through their after school experience. We would like to congratulate our City Champions for each division from MACES (D-1), Rancho Dominguez (D-2) and Fleming MS (D-3) along with our Runner Ups from Fleming (D-1), Mulholland (D-2) and Foshay LC (D-3). We would also like to thank our coaches, students, families and partners that made this season memorable for all and look forward to continuing our efforts to expose students to the power and fun of Tennis!
